Drywall sometimes can be a massive problem as it covers nearly every square foot of many homes. Many ways are there to repair the surface defects on your walls.
In order to repair drywall holes easily, all you need to do is to work with a small bunch of hand tools which you might probably have.
The use of finest quality gypsum can also help to avoid holes. So, if you are planning to get some high quality gypsum, then you may contact a reputed gypsum plaster manufacturer.

The tools that you need to repair a damaged drywall are mentioned below:
1.       Sandpaper.
2.       6 inch dry wall knife (preferably one made from stainless steel with a metal heel.
3.       Pencil.
4.       Tape Measure.
5.       Drill or screwdriver.
6.       Drywall saw.
7.       Screws.
8.       Paint Roller.
You will need the following materials:
1.       Setting compound:
·         Setting compound is the chemical which holds the drywall in place.
·         The powder is mixed with water and dries with the help of a chemical reaction which ultimately leaves a very dry and hard compound.
·         The difference in the compound which you purchase is its setting time.
·         Depending upon your skills, you should decide on everything.

2.       Mesh tape:
·         You can in fact use either mesh tape or paper tape.
·         However, it depends on the DIYers preference.
·         From your local home improvement store, you can purchase Mesh tape for the project.

3.       A piece of plywood:
·         Sometimes the hole you are repairing may require some form of backer board.
·         In my opinion, the best material for this is plywood.
4.              Drywall:
·         You need to know the size and thickness while purchasing your drywall.
·         For a small repair there is no need to purchase a full sized dry wall piece.
·         Some home improvement centres or building merchants may be able to supply you with either off cuts which you can use or some smaller sized pieces.
·         You can check the thickness of the drywall.
·         The norm for an interior wall is ½”.
You can check out the steps to repair Drywall Holes easily:
1.       Making the hole square for repair:
·         Make the dry wall hole square first and it is the simplest way to repair it.
·         For the whole process, you may require a pencil, a tape measure and a dry wall saw.
·         Draw a square by using your pencil and tape measure.
·         With the help of your dry wall saw, cut this hole out.

2.       Adding the backer board in the hole:
·         The next step will be to add your backer board or plywood into your square hole.
·         To do this, you have to use four screws which hold it in place.
·         One most important point to remember is that below the surface of the dry wall, you have to countersink the screws.
·         In order to give your drywall a sturdy foundation, place one screw in each corner.

3.       Cutting your new piece of drywall:
·         Use your tape and pencil and measure the new piece of drywall that you will be installing.
·         Before placing it within the hole, you need to take your drywall saw and cut the piece to size.

4.       Using the mesh tape to cover joints:
·         You have to cover all the joints with the mesh tape.
·         This is not a difficult task because one side of your mesh tape will be covered in adhesive.
·         Place the adhesive tape at least two inches outside the edges of your hole.

5.       Applying your first layer of setting compound:
·         You need a thick consistency for the first coat of your compound.
·         Until you get this consistency, keep adding plenty of water and powder.
·         You can begin to apply your first layer by using 6” drywall knife.
·         While applying the compound to the wall, always try to work in one smooth direction.
·         Kindly ensure that you insert the mesh tape and try to remove any air pockets which may begin to appear as you work.
·         You have to remember that this is only the first coat.
·         It does not have to be perfect yet it sets the foundation.

6.       Allow first coat to dry before applying second coat:
·         Before you move onto the second layer, allow some time for your first coat to dry.
·         You can mix another batch of setting compound once it gets completely dried.
·         Now, keep in mind that the second coat needs to be a lot tidier.

7.       The final coat of setting compound:
·         You would not require much setting compound at all with the final coat.
·         Use your dry wall knife carefully to smooth any rough edges.

8.       The sanding process:

·         The sanding process enables you to take out any ridges, dimples or rough areas which you couldn’t smooth out when applying your coats.
·         To check it is completely smooth, rub your hand over your drywall.

9.       Priming before painting:
·         You can go to a local DIY store and purchase some dry wall primer.
·         You need to prime the full dry wall repair.
·         Reason being the prime setting compound absorbs your paint in a different way.
·         It leaves a visible difference in the old and new drywall.

10.   Painting the drywall repair:

·         When painting, you need to make sure that you get the right match to the rest of your wall.
·         Use a paint roller as it allows you to match the texture of the rest of the wall a lot easier rather than painting by hand.
